I discovered something very cool today!
So, adoptions are expensive- they range anywhere from $25,000 - $35,000 and can be much more expensive than even that, all depending on the arrangement. Besides the combination of funding resources, including the Adoption Tax Credit (thanks to my friend Jess who used her voice to help ensure it was extended), support from our church, and fundraisers, we will be applying for some adoption grants. Well, taking the advice from friends that have applied and received grants, I got online to search out the organizations they suggested. One is the "Show Hope" founded by Stephen Curtis Chapman. This organization is made even cooler when you know their story - quite a few years ago, their 17 year old backed his car over their toddler who was in the driveway. Their story of finding hope in Christ after a tragedy I couldn't begin to imagine is one that stops you in your tracks and fully points to the Glory of God.
Since Passion 2010, we have been purchasing Gobena coffee. I first sipped their delicious beans one late, late night at Passion then came home + decided to support them after reading their story. I would have never guessed that three years later we would be applying for a grant from the very organization that Gobena is tied to: Lifesong For Orphans! It is so neat to know that we have been supporting other families + orphans this whole time and will now possibly be one of those families!
This was just a reminder to me the importance of supporting places that are impacting the world! We fully believe that God orchestrates every thing in our lives, including the presence of Gobena at Passion 3 years ago!
So I want to buy some Gobena coffee, please, honey! Please tell me how ~ love you so much and yes, you have worded your post perfectly = support difference makers!!! Mommy
